My name is Henry Rodriguez Medina, I am 30 years old. I was born in Colombia, but raised in Aruba with my family. My hobby is playing soccer. In my free time; I like to go to the gym so I can stay in good condition. I like music and my dream is to open my own radio station. Music is the thing that makes me feel at my optimum best. Currently, I’m studying in Puerto Rico, at the University Inter American of Puerto Rico. I am a third year nursing student and will have my BSN degree completed in May 2010. I choose nursing because I find it to be an interesting profession, not because the pay is good and the benefits are available. The area of my preference after graduation is to work in the Pediatric unit at the San Jorge Pediatric Hospital. Why is it that I want to go into pediatric nursing? Because my life long dream was to always help children, and I like to be close by them. I don’t like to see children suffer from pain, neglect, or abuse. What I've experienced in my life, I don’t want other children to experience. So the preventative measures that I will take to help others will benefit many to come. That's the major reason why I prefer to work with children and provide therapeutic treatment and services to them. You should have a passion for it, not because others are doing it or because your family have all been studying nursing . No, you have to make your own choice; nursing and providing care to children and others is a rewarding and amazing profession.
